Industrial Training Institute Chamba is a prime institute imparting Technical Education and situated in the lap of nature
and Shiv Bhumi Chamba District. This institute is established in the year of 1964 under the aegis of DGE&T. All the courses were affiliated to the NCVT. In the beginning there were Surveyor, Draughtsman, Electrician, Wireman, Mechanic Radio & TV, Welder, Fitter, Turner, Mechanic Motor Vehicle and Mechanist Trades. New trades were introduced according to the need of the market. Later Stenography English and Hindi were introduced in the institute in the seventies. Then with the advent of industrialization of the country and increasing demand of the skilled workers in the field Electronics and Communication sector the trade of Mechanic Electronics was introduced in the nineties. In the twenty first century the trend of Surveyor, Draughtsman and Stenography trades had been weakened and in the process Stenography English and Stenography Hindi trades have been closed and Radio and TV Mechanic trade gave way to the trade Mechanic Electronics. In ITI Chamba Women wing is also available which was initially run by the Industry Department and merged with technicaleducation in the eighties. Presently there are two trades running namely Cutting & Sewing and Embroidery and Needlework. In 2007 the new concept of COE (Centre of Excellence) has been introduced on the demand of Industries with the help of Industrial Partners and Govt. Institutions by forming an IMC(Institutional Management Committee). The COE was introduced to produce multi skilled workers. In this trade during the first year six different modules are taught which is calledBBBT. In the second year students are trained in the advanced modules of their choices. InITI Chamba COE in Electrical Sector is running. Other than BBBT the advance courses ofHTLT, Repair & Maintenance of Home Appliance and Power Generation are taught by the skilled faculty.Presently there are Surveyor, Draughtsman, Electrician(PPP), Wireman, Fitter, Turner, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Electronics Mechanic (PPP) Carpenter, Cutting & Sewing and Embroidery and Needlework. Nine modules of COE (6 Basic and 3 Advance) Electrical Sector are also running in the Institute.
Presently this institute is progressing rapidly under the leadership of Sh.J.D Sharma the Principal of the Institute who has a huge teaching and supervisory experience with him and the institute is getting benefited with his experience.
